Eco-Urbanism within a Linear City.

Tokyo Bay Aqualine was opened in December 1997 connecting Kawasaki to Kisarazu via a man made island, ' Umihotaru' meaning sea firefly.
The artificial island took into consideration the full environmental, social, political, economical and aesthetic possibilities of which the architecture is capable. Along the aqualine there is restaurants and rest areas and amusements, providing leisure facilities and gaining economical benefits.
With this project Tokyo has set standards for new ways of problem solving in cities.
